Fair Oak v Compton and Chandlers Ford Cricket Club U15 on Fri 03 Jun 2011 at 6pm
Compton and Chandlers Ford Cricket Club Won By 32 runs

Match report On what was, described by Oran in the scoring book, a "scorching" day, the U15 lads travelled up to Fair Oak sitting comfortably at top of the B league. After investigating a very "interesting" pitch which seemed it could do anything, Matt won the toss and decided to put Compton into bat.

After some nervy shots on behalf on both batsman, Matt and Jake got the team off on a flyer, with Compton on 78 after 11 overs without loss! Both went on to retire, with Jakey finally getting his first major runs of the season...and yet another not-out for Matt's "infinite" batting average!

Unfortunately it was an unusual day for Compton's 3&4 duo, both falling cheaply to poor shot selection and then Owen got bowled directly after Jay leaving their opening bowler on a hat-trick. Fortunately Hamraj prevented him from taking that away! However, Mikey kept the run chase going with a solid 28 not out after being dropped mid-way through his innings. Hamraj also scored his first runs for the club including a nifty pull/sweep shot much to the delight of the lads sat watching, before being run out after failing to acknowledge mikey's call.

In the end 142 seemed like more than enough runs, and this was proved via the home side only hitting 112 in response off the full 20 overs.

Duncan loader opened the bowling in a highly positive manner by dismissing the opener first ball of the innings. With the Diamond Duck on board, compton never looked back, and Duncan bowled another. Although the 2&4 batsman for Fair Oak stabilised the innings, they simply couldn't keep up with the 7+ an-over required rate. Their skipper played some solid drives to provide some hope, but a straight drive deflected, albeit with little intention, by Anash led to him being unluckily run out. From then onwards, Compton knew the victory was in the bag, and they ended on a high with Hamraj taking his first wicket for the club, which proved to be the last of the match.

A solid performance with few errors - well done chaps and bring on Amport next week!
