Compton and Chandlers Ford Cricket Club U15 v Amport on Fri 10 Jun 2011 at 6pm
Compton and Chandlers Ford Cricket Club Won By (roughly) 80 runs!

Match report On a horrible day with rain on/off, Compton had a home fixture against Amport who were beaten last time around away.

Conscious of the weather, I suggested the lads bat quickly in the first 10 in case the weather took control. Looking to capitalise on a strong start, Matt won the toss, elected to bat first and opened with Jake. Both got off to a slightly tentative start, but once the wheels were in motion compton were flying as usual with 66 off the first 10 - a solid rate if it came to the "10 over" comparison(if the weather had taken over!)

Jake played a loose shot to get caught, when really the juicy full toss should've gone for 6! Josh and Matt kept the runs coming, with the skipper, yet to have a batting average, hitting a lovely 6 to retire on 30 exactly. Jay and Josh looked positive but their partnership was short lived after Bridge bowled what proved to be the best delivery of the match: swinging away and clipping the top of off stump. But with his overs diminished, their most dangerous bowler couldn't strike again and Owen and Josh kept the runs ticking to take Compton to a huge total.

After the interval the rain returned, thus Matt ensured compton bowled the first 10 as quickly as possible in case it came down to the dreaded D/L method! fortunately, Compton's bowling attack took full charge with Duncan within inches of claiming his 2nd consecutive "Diamond-duck wicket" - unfortunately Josh put the chance down with the high overhead catch proving a tad too tricky.

Anash took some quick wickets, and a run out from Jay and Jakey's expensive but wicket taking pair of overs followed.

From here onwards their 10 men batting side were dismissed for around 55 - their lads who did the scoring left our book very much incomplete thus although economies might be a little out, I have tried hard to get it as close to reality as possible - the number of wickets are spot on though (I think!).

Thanks for a very enjoyable 2 weeks guys and I shall continue to help Bill out with your fixtures in the future! Good luck - the league is virtually won now and you all fully deserve it! :D
