Otterbourne III v Compton and Chandlers Ford Cricket Club 4th XI on Sat 22 Jun 2013 at 2.00
Compton and Chandlers Ford Cricket Club Won 5 wickets

Match report We welcomed new players to the 4th team, Adrian, Oran, and Joe to the local derby with Otterbourne. Skipper Wilson won the toss and decided to bowl, even though James was using a feable excuse of buying a wedding dress for his late arrival. With a strong bowling line up and with a wettish afternoon forecast we decided to have first use of the ball. Opening with Ian and Jake we made Otterbourne work hard and we were causing their openers to take a few gambles. The fielding display was superb each supporting another. The break-through came after Jake was replaced by Amir. In Amir' second over we had the spectacle of a well held catch by Rob, fielding at first slip. Soon after Amir caught the free scoring Balcome off his own bowling. Ian bowled as tight as ever for his ten overs with no luck. Jay replaced him and with his last ball of his last over poleaxed the middle stump to dismiss a freescoring batsman. Amir was replaced by Oran at the end of his spell. His spin with his partner Wilson proved to undo Otterbourne. A superb run out by Jay off Oran was followed by a sharp stumping by Joe as the stand in keeper. James then added to Oran's haul by taking a good catch. Another run out this time by Adrian this time off Wilson had Otterbourne on their knees. Adrian added to an excellent afternoon by pouching another for Oran. A wicket fell to Wilson a close in catch by James to make his second of the day. Otterburne' captain was bowled by Oran who finished wth four.

After a good tea we set to the field with openers Rob and Adrian. Rob was looking good unitl an inswinging yorker from Docking removed his leg stump. In strode James to join Adrian. This pair then set about the Otterbourne attack scoring at will. Their stand had reached 80 when Adrian was caught by the keeper for a good 33. James was joind by Joe who did not disturb the scorers. Jake did not stay long either. Now James was partnered by Graeme and he smote a mighty 4 to the longest boundary and was looking comfortable when he spooned one back to the replacement bowler for Docking. Enter Jay to join James. James had passed 50 to no applause! Jay was running hard and was striking the ball well. The pair saw us home with 9 overs left. James had batted for 30 overs for his unbeaten 71 and Jay was not out for 23.

A really good team effort. The fielding was first class, team sprit was high adnd a really good chase down of a biggish score. 24 points! Next week Midhurst at KGV.
